Things we get asked a lot
An occupational therapist helps individuals of all ages develop, recover, or maintain the skills needed for daily living and working. This can include improving fine motor skills, addressing sensory challenges, and creating strategies for independence.
Occupational therapy can help children, adults, and seniors who face physical, cognitive, sensory, or emotional challenges that impact their ability to perform everyday tasks.
For children, occupational therapists may focus on play skills, sensory processing, handwriting, self-care tasks (like dressing and grooming), and social interactions.
Sensory integration therapy is a specialised approach to help individuals process and respond to sensory input effectively. It’s often used for children with sensory processing issues or autism.
Each session is tailored to the individual’s needs, and may include activities, exercises, or interventions to address specific goals. Parents, caregivers, or family members may be involved, particularly for children.
Occupational therapy is available to babies, children, teens and adults.
The Playful Kind offers therapy in clinic, home, school, preschool or in the community, depending on the person's needs.
Our occupational therapy services include functional and sensory assessments; reporting; and ongoing sessions. These services are available to private and plan and self-managed NDIS clients. NDIS participants may be able to access their funding under either Capacity Building or Core Supports for these services.
